A Street Hawker

A street hawker is a moving seller of things. He is found in the streets of all big cities and towns. A street hawker may be found selling newspapers, clothes, household accessories, vegetables or fish, chocolate and candy, ice cream, and many more things. He is a poor man trying hard to earn his livelihood and to meet the expenditures of his family. He has to sell his goods some way or other. He tries to persuade passers-by or passengers in a public vehicle.

we see hawkers and many of them are good business. On the contrary, there is another kind of hawkers who buy newspapers, blank pots, old books, worn-out clothes from the houses. However, children are fond of a hawker but men do not like them.

By carrying the goods for sale in his hands or on his shoulders, he moves from door to door. Sometimes, he goes from one street to another with his moving shop. A street hawker’s life is not easy and comfortable but it is rather difficult and full of hardship.

He has to talk much to impress the buyers. He is always undermined by people and often maltreated by the inconsiderate. Of course, he may also cheat people with higher charges or adulterated products.

However, street hawker provides many necessary things. Society should not sneer at them only because of their poverty and simple lifestyle. It is the responsibility of the govt to get all the hawkers registered and provide them with some support like a loan on easy terms without interest.
